There is a side storyline that I worked on for a few short weeks, it was not meant to be long or to be deeply intertwined with the main GCTT. I would like to consider it a kind of tragedy with a hero the does succeed, but loses it all in doing so. In this story we follow Tom when he was a young lad, 16-25 is the range. Here we see the extent of his power without the Eternity Gauntlet, we see his past with the Royal Guard, and we also see a form of Chaos (or at least the predecessor to the Chaos Sprites that end up roaming the universe.)
Past the gateway of Jupiter's Red Eye, when the alignment of the celestial bodies in the 13th System occur, only then will you find the path that takes you to a distant place where a rare Quartz like mineral can be found in abundance. For now we call it Citrele, its properties can be engineered to either conduct or amplify and resist or absorb electricity. And the people of the Tric System are those ones who discovered and utilize it every day to its fullest potential. Though to us electricity has become and always will be a commodity, to the Tricians it is a way of life and to lose ones ability to channel it in, around, or out of the body would mean death.
When the Infinity Gauntlet was activated by the Lord of Corruption, it revealed to his followers all prime sources of power in the universe. The Royal Guard being the main force to venture out and take what did not belong to them. The people of Tric were a peaceful warrior race. All conflict was dealt with displays of power before an official challenge of will was initiated. In the case where an argument escalated to violent measures they would simply transport themselves to a near by planet in their system (one populated immensely with Citrele). Since all the planets had a source of Citrele, the feat of interplanetary travel could be done with ease if one could harness the power within: the body's natural electrical currents.
In this time period we follow a boy named Caen, straight out of the womb the Royal Guard of Tric implemented the use of a prototype Power Vest (PV) that would greatly hinder his natural abilities. Around the age of 17 the vest must be swapped out in order to accommodate his ever increasing power level. They place him in a chamber that would proportionally suppress his power so that he would not detect the lie that has made him who he is to this point, weak.
Through what appeared to be divine intervention, in the near by testing facility where the criminally deranged and mentally unstable were subject to inhumane experiments, a "failed" experiment wrecks the place and "frees" Caen from the chain of lies that bound him. The sudden release of energy overwhelms him and he obliterates what remains of the RG scientists and the building. His opponent Golyth sees this as an opportunity to overthrow the RG and the Trician Government. Unfortunately for him Caen's faith in his people and the law decimates Golyth.
Caen teams up with Samuel who forges a PV that aids Caen in controlling his energy by storing excess energy that can be tapped into at will. Samuel mentors Caen and guides him in find out who he is and how to better use his abilities. Tom doesn't come into the picture until the very end, when Caen and Tom must decide the fate Tric by either genocide or self-sacrifice for the greater good of the universe.
this is cool. the travel by electricity and the Citrele harnessing sounds legit! there were a few typos. "Quartz" is spelled with a 'z'. What's a 'PV'?
ReplyDeletePV stands for Power Vest. I'll fix the 'z'.
DeleteIt's pretty well written. And you give some background into the worlds your characters come from, which helps a lot. Maybe you could have an index at the end to explain the terminology from these worlds.
ReplyDeleteHmm... :/ The purpose of this blog was so that it could be an index for future endeavors. What needs clarifying?
